Good news- Went for the interview for the christian bookshop. Music was different this time. This time it was Hillsong playing a very acoustic version of From the Inside Out. God please let me work here
And also a bonus question.
Imagine you are in a war situation. You are a soldier in a platoon. You are going deep into the enemy's territory and you are passing by a local village. While you are passing by the village you encounter two families which beg the platoon to take their children to safety. Your Captain says NO.
What will your next action be? Will you obey the captain's order? Why?
After filling the forms I had to wait for a moment for the..."head" to come out. Which gave me a chance to properly look over the place which I might spend the next 4 months in, almost every day, almost every of the day. But I like it there. Good music, good books, good shelves, good diversity of stuff. Esp those small accessories which have quotes or bible verses on them.
After about twenty minutes, the head came. Then she took me to a corner and looked through my filled forms. Then questioned me about particular details. Are you prepared to work on saturdays and sundays? No off days on those days. What are your trial exam reults? Your church? Where is it? What will you be studying? Where? What course will you be taking? When does it start?
Then she got to the last question. The bonus one. She frowned at my answer.
Technically, my answer doesnt really show that, but she still considered it as YES I WILL DISOBEY THE CAPTAIN'S ORDER AND SAVE THOSE LIVES. And then she gave me a lecture about how it is important to obey your superior's orders because 1) Your first duty as a soldier is to obey orders 2) They have more experience 3) If it was the wrong decision to make they will bear the cost of it, not you, because they made the decision 4) If the children died in the war, do you think it could be that God wanted it that way? Maybe He wanted to bring them to heaven. 5) You have to obey laws. God has rules and laws that you might not satisfied with, but still you have to obey them. Laws are what makes a foundation of a sistem. 6) Like for example, Malaysia. Yes, you might say that that the goverment is full of corruption , but the goverment still governs the country. 7) You remember the Pharisees questioned Jesus that the people are complaining that the taxes are too high to pay, but Jesus still said it is not your role to question, but if someone does anything wrong, God already has set punishments for them. 8) It is written that you must not take revenge, because the person you are taking revenge on would be paying twice the amount the punishment, one from God, one from you. Revenge is sinning.
And then she told me if I'm to work here, I'm to fully commit myself to this. No taking sudden leaves. No saying "oh I have this church party" and not show up for work. She told me she's expecting me to prioritize on work more than my church.
Bad news.
I need a 2-weeks notice for any activities that require me to skip work. One off-day a week. Nine hours a day. Rm5 an hour. Must work on Saturdays and Sundays. In other words, very limited freedom.
I need to figure this out.
Later at night I went for this prayer meeting with a new friend I'd only met once. But she asked me to join her prayer meeting group, so I went. Wonderful people, wonderful spirit, wonderful worship sessions. But I cant go to another one again. I won't. I don't know why, but with my new friend around, I am not myself. Dunno how to explain this, but I'm a different person. Before you go "aww" there is no romantic meaning. I am just a different person, one that I don't like to be at all. My responses are different from my usual responses. And they're a little bit on the cold side. So I screwed up. Sigh. Sometimes I wish I don't have this thing at all. Personality shifts. Mercurial. Fickle. Leaf in the wind.
I miss 5A, and the youth. I like to be who I am when they're around.
LOL did she like lecture you.
ReplyDeleteOKAY, I'M SORRY, I just had to reply. No offense...that "head" is quite............Or maybe I just have got everything wrong. Cuz yeah, I'm not that...great of a Christian. I'm not going to quote the bible or anything, because I suck at that. This is just my opinion:
3) UH, NO, actually, we have a choice. It would be our fault if we didn't help, not our captain's. So, what, she wouldn't help someone dying, just because someone told her not to? She'd always do whatever her "leader" tells her to do? "Kill that innocent baby." "okay."? Okay, maybe for soldiers it's different, but why are we talking about soldiers when we're not even soldiers :/ It doesn't really apply. Actually, what does the bible say about soldiers obeying their captains? If it says anything...
4) So....we shouldn't try to save anyone's life? :/
5) Yeah, uhhh, are ALL laws reasonable? Are the rules in the army/military God's rules? There are loads of policies in the past that were disastrous, inhumane.
8) And I don't get this one. Where did revenge come from?
Sorry. :'D sorry if I seemed like I was scolding you, I wasn't. I'm just a little confused. I don't understand....you can answer and correct me, but you don't have to answer if you don't want to ahahah
If I were there, I'd be like questioning her lolll
BUT OTHER THAN THAT, it seems like a nice place :) except...........why everyDAY :( and RM5 per hour...
is it like super busy? so many people mehh...or you're the only one working there....and
LOL 5 churches - nav, nav, nav, nav, nav. and,
work > church?
WHAT? *goes emo*
oh, and I miss the Youth too :( and about the way you feel about it, well, that's a relief :)
ReplyDeletePs. it's "31st" not "31th" HEEHEE <3
okay. I will now dive back into my pile of work.
hehe thanks for commenting! oh btw, it DID seem like you're scolding me ahahaha. you do know that i'm only quoting her and it's not my opinion too? :P but yeah after much deeeep thinking..
ReplyDeleteSince it says so in the question, i think we should really imagine ourselves as soldiers, even though we're not. :P Given the context of it, we know it's a war, and people are going to die. So if there's really such a situation, what about the rest of the village? aren't their lives threatened too? If everyone's lives are threatened, then who are we to decide who lives and who dies? So if we just save the children of the two families what does that make us? I think, for this situation (war), the question of saving lives is debatable. And what does the bible even say about saving lives? :/ I don't really know, but come to think of it, i haven't actually heard of a verse that literally tells us to save OTHER PEOPLE'S lives. It's always about your life, apparently :P can you ask your dad about this? :))) this is the conclusion i arrived at, i guess. Sounds really cold and bloodless and incompassionate, but yeah. :/ sorry.
oh and about the laws.......really confusing for me. check this out

yeah i don't know. Does this mean we shouldn't go against anything of the government? :/ sighhhhhhh. loooool sorry you probably don't need all of this what with the work you need to think about already ahah you can ignore all this :D
