WORK continues to get more and more exciting!
Its amazing, the people I meet. I can go on and on about them, but there's one today that just strikes me down with heart-warmth-ness. It was a couple....and they're...deaf. So a lot of sign language going on. (I NEED TO BRUSH UP ON MY SIGN LANGUAGE) But of course, I only really know the lousy noob sign language, which are the individual letters of the alphabet, whereas the couple was communicating with obviously much much more profficient and intricate hand gestures. But anyway. They came in before and that time they were looking for a bible for deaf people, but we didnt have one. We should really get those though. :/ Tears my heart watching them, as I realise their faith for God is so strong, as they were looking at different bible versions and nodding and shaking their heads as they consider each version whether it was to their liking. But today I got even more humbled. Today they brought with them another three men, (also deaf people) and they asked me again whether we have any bibles for deaf people now, to which I regretfully said no, to which they asked instead for a simple bible. So I ...assigned them a section of shelves for them to look through. And then I watched them... Watched as the couple chose bibles, considered them, and then gave it to the other three deaf people. The other three men (among themselves) also considered them and all the while hands were flying around, the meaning of those flowing gestures alluding me. I should mention that the three men looked like....imigrants. :/
My theory is that the couple was actually buying bibles for the three men. And the truly touching thing about it was I think the couple was actually Introducing Christ to the three men. Hence the bible-purchasing thing going on. And that really reached out to me, as I realized they werent letting their....disadvantages hindering their faith for God and to spread His Word. ahhhhhh. humbled. :( andwhatamidoing.
Ah well .Besides the customers, it got exciting with my colleagues too.
YouYou is really getting "friendlier" altogether. She's smiling much more to me now, and that creeps the heck outa me. :||||||||||| But we get along better now, we can crack jokes at each other, and I rather like the fact that both of us randomly switch between English and Mandarin when we say something. That way of talking triggers lots of old memories with my old friends :( How The Watermelons would sometimes just speak chinese the whole day and leaving just that one fella who doesnt understand chinese at all out of all conversations ahahaha. Yeah the closer bond with YouYou is nice, since Eunice is gonna leave next week......and then its just the two of us. And the creepy smiles. Oh boy.
And also an interesting thing: I speak English to Eunice, and YouYou speaks Chinese to Eunice. We speak our more comfortable language to Eunice. But funny thing is, I always start speaking Chinese to YouYou, and she always starts speaking English to me. LOOOOL. Its just strange.
And the past few days I've been watching movies with Eunice. ahahahahahahaha I don't think it's forbidden, but we just take the DVD's in the store and watch 'em. Only when we work the night shift together though. Apparently for this whole week for some reason both of us were thrown to night shifts. zzzzz. YouYou la. Lazy bum. I know she wants to get home early. pft. But loooool I'm actualy kidding. She's not the lazy type at all, she works more than the rest of anyone. BUT I know she likes the morning shift and she'll throw it to other people if she can help it. ahahahah. Well actually everyone likes the morning shift except me. :S I love the night shifts. Because of lotssss of reasons. How I get to wake up late, how the store looks when you close it and switch off all the lights, how it seems less tiring, how it seems the customers are nicer at night, how the music playing sounds better at night, especially when its those quiet, moving worship songs.....like Hillsong's Yahweh. Etc, etc. ah anyway. So Eunice and I spend the last two three night shifts watching Christian movies. Which are actually....a bit preachy. But can't avoid that, I guess. Gets a little boring at those parts :/ Okay guilty conscience going up. But yeah.
It's always an interesting experience when you watch movies with someone. Especially someone you just got to know. I always wonder before watching a movie with someone about what kind of a movie partner they'll be. There's the laugh-at-everything type (which i'll assosciate to The Watermelons) there's the OMG-at-everything type, there's the awkward moments type (esp with parents) there's the pin-drop-silence type (no sound coming from them throughout the movie) there's the minds-think-alike-friends that'll make any scene much better type, and so on and so forth. Of course, there're lots more types that I can't wait to get to experience, but yeah. So far I think these are the common ones..
Eunice is the OMG type. ahahahahahahaha. But instead of "omg" she.....shits. I mean, say the word "shit". (had you frowned didnt I) But she doesnt say "shit" like normal people say "shit" too. LOL. She says it like "shiii" without much emphasis on the "T". Yeah it sounds really funny. Like a hissing kettle. ahahahaha. She says that quite a lot, esp during the pump-up action scenes, for example in one movie this guy was hanging on to the window of a moving car and there was a kettle hissing next to me throughout the whole scene LOOOOL.
Mmmm. also in this week, I read catching fire and mockingjay. The mockingjay ending does not really annoy me as much as it does to some people........:P
Partly because I really enjoy the way Suzanne Collins write. Everything is through Katniss' point of view, the story unfolds with her thoughts as the narration alone (which actually gets a bit frustrating because you cant really tell what other people are actually feeling its all just Katniss's assumptions). And also the scenes are so unpredictable I really never know what will happen next. And while yes, the third book was moving exceptionally fast, I thought the first and second book were already moving fast, though not in the plot sense. The scenes, more like. Suzanne never really focuses on one scene for long. Always something fresh and totally unexpected jumps in. Which is really quiant and fitting with the story, what with the Games and all. AND HER IMAGINATION. ahhhhhhh I get immersed in the world when i read.
Aaaaaand I get the feeling a lot more can be known and the story will be clearer once you've known, but its all hidden beneath Katniss's thoughts-narration. Hmmm. So if I have the time I'll scrutinze every sentence and yeah.
Thats about all the stuff that I can think of to blog about, though it somewhat exceded what I had intended to write, which is just an update LOL. But until next time then!
Oh and I can't wait for college.
i miss corridors
